This bulletin applies to vehicles equipped with gas engines only.
DISCUSSION:
A issue was discovered with StarSCAN(R) version 8.02 when performing the "Vehicle Configuration Update" procedure on the vehicle listed above.
This version of the StarSCAN(R) erroneously set a MIL Illumination for Diagnostic Trouble Code P0481 - Cooling Fan 2 Control Circuit. Version 8.03
of StarSCAN(R) corrected this condition.
If a vehicle comes in with DTC P0481 - Cooling Fan 2 Control Circuit, ensure the StarSCAN® is operating at version 8.03 and perform a "Vehicle
Configuration Update procedure. Connect the StarSCAN(R) to the vehicle and with the ignition key in the run position actuate the High Speed Radiator
Fan Relay. Read DTC's with the StarSCAN(R) and if the DTC returns further diagnosis is required. Refer to the appropriate Diagnostic Procedures
available in TechCONNECT. If the DTC does not return no further action is required
NOTE:
Always ensure your StarSCAN(R) is operating at the latest level of software available.
