Elimination of the Oil Level Check Feature in the VIC
MODELS:
1994 (ZJ) Grand Cherokee
DISCUSSION:
Effective with MDH 08-30-XX, the oil level check feature in the Vehicle Information Center (VIC) will be discontinued from production. The feature
will be programmed out of the module and the sensor will not be present. The VIC will function as it has for all other features but will no longer monitor
oil level.
The diagnostic mode in the VIC will still look at the oil level circuit for faults. When the diagnostic mode is activated, it will display an oil level sensor
open circuit fault on all vehicles built after 8-30-93. No attempts should be made to correct this condition.
