Snapping Or Popping Noise When Door is Opened - Sticking Door Ajar Switch
MODELS:
1994 - 1995 (ZJ) Grand Cherokee
SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
An intermittent loud snapping or popping noise is heard when the door latch button is operated. The noise is often confused with latch or linkage
problems but is caused by a momentary sticking and the releasing of the door ajar switch.
DIAGNOSIS:
Open and close the door several times. If the noise is heard, perform the repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves replacing the door ajar switch.
1.
Remove the door ajar switch using care to assure that the harness does not become disconnected and fall into the body.
2.
Disconnect the switch from the harness.
3.
Install the new switch. The switch will self adjust when the door is closed.
