Stop Lamp Switch: Service and Repair
Brake Switch
NOTE:
The brake switch is mounted to the brake pedal support.
REPLACEMENT PROCEDURE
1.
Disconnect brake switch electrical connector.
2.
Carefully pry upward on the pedal tang and pull switch from pedal support.
3.
Reverse procedure for installation.
ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE
1.
Push switch through clip in mounting bracket until switch seats in bracket. Brake pedal will move forward slightly.
2.
Pull brake pedal rearward as far as it will go pedal tang will "ratchet" switch to correct position as pedal is pulled rearward.
3.
Verify that stop light switch does not prevent full pedal return. Incomplete return will cause brake drag and premature wear.
