Remove the propeller shaft.

Remove the four rear retainer housing mounting bolts.

Remove the rubber snap ring access plug on the top side of the rear retainer housing (Fig. 1).

Using an appropriate tool, spread the rear bearing locating snap ring and remove the rear retainer housing.
15.
Clean the mating surfaces of the rear retainer housing and the transfer case and apply new Mopar RTV Sealant (PN 04883971).
16.
Spread the rear bearing locating snap ring and install the rear retainer housing on to the transfer case.
17.
Torque the four rear retainer housing bolts to 33.9 Nm (25 ft. lbs.)
18.
Using the alignment marks previously made, install the propeller shaft, torquing the bolts to 18.9 Nm (14 ft. lbs.)
19.
Using NV247 Transfer Case Fluid (PN 05016796), check and refill the transfer case to the proper level (fluid should be able to be touched by a
fingertip inserted into the fill hole on the transfer case.) (Fig. 1).
20.
Install the new rubber rear retainer snap ring access plug (PN 05018919AA.)
21.
Lower the vehicle and close the hood.
