Auto Headlamps (Ultralight)
AUTO HEADLAMPS (ULTRALIGHT)
The auto headlamps option will operate the same as the 95 ZJ while offering additional features such as Auto Funeral Mode. If enabled, the lights
will automatically turn on at dusk after the engine has successfully started. Lights will automatically extinguish if ambient light indicates daytime.
Automatic Funeral Mode
AUTOMATIC FUNERAL MODE
If the vehicle has the auto headlamp option, the customer will have the automatic funeral mode feature. If the park lamps or head lamps are
manually activated during the daytime (as in a funeral procession), the vacuum fluorescent displays will remain at full daytime brightness to allow
for greater visibility. The interior instrumentation lighting will be illuminated at the level of the I/P dimming switch.
Front Fog Lamp Control
FRONT FOG LAMP CONTROL
The body controller controls the operation of the front fog lamp relay which controls the front fog lamps. The front fog lamps can only be on if the
park or low beam headlamps are on. If the high beams are on, the front fog lamps will not be able to engage. On Daytime Running Lamps (DRL)
equipped vehicles, when the park lamps are on, the DRL high beams may also be on. In that case, the front fog lamps may be turned on. Also on
DRL vehicles, if the low beams are on, the DRL is off and fog lamps are allowed.
Headlamp Delay
HEADLAMP DELAY
The headlamp delay is active whenever the headlamps are ON and subsequently the ignition is switched off. If the vehicle is equipped with Auto
Headlamps, a delay of 90 seconds begins immediately after key-off. If the vehicle does not have Auto Headlamps, the delay begins when the
headlamp switch is switched to the OFF position. If 30 seconds elapses before the headlamp switch is switched to the OFF position with ignition
OFF, headlamp delay is cancelled for that cycle.

The knob is illuminated to better show the switch position. The switch has the following positions: AUTO (an optional feature), OFF, PARK, and
HEADLAMP Front and rear fog lamp switches and instrument panel dimmer are not included in the rotary headlamp switch.
Headlamps on With Wipers
HEADLAMPS ON WITH WIPERS
If the vehicle contains the optional auto headlamps feature, an additional feature is available. This feature automatically turns on the headlamps if
the wipers are activated. This occurs only if the auto head lamps are in the automatic mode. This feature is programmable by the dealer via the
DRB service tool.
Multiplex Door Modules
DOOR MODULES
A new feature introduced is the multiplex door module. One of these modules is located in each front door. They control the following features:
power door locks, driver window express down, memory recall functions (memory seats and mirrors), keyless entry and power mirrors. Reduced
wiring complexity is a key feature of using multiplexed door modules. These modules are addressable with the DRB from the Body menu to
facilitate faster and easier diagnosis.
Power Windows
POWER WINDOWS
The power windows can be raised or lowered from the driver's door module (DDM) or the individual door switch. The DDM has a lock out switch
that prevents the windows from being operated from any switch except the driver's door. When this switch is pressed, it also shuts off the
individual door switch LED's.
A new feature of this system allows the windows to be operated from any window switch for 30 seconds after the ignition switch is turned off,
provided a front door is not opened. Another feature is the `Express Down'. When the driver presses the down switch to the second detent, the
window will travel all the way down even if the switch is released. To stop the window, simply press the switch momentarily in either direction.
On the rear window motor circuit there is 12 volts provided on both the up and down circuits. This 12 volts is supplied by the appropriate door
module. When the rear switch is pressed, the supply circuit to one side of the switch is opened and ground is provided making a complete circuit.
