Monitored (CCD Bus) Messages
THE VEHICLE INFORMATION CENTER MONITORED (CCD BUS MESSAGES)
CHECK BATTERY:
The message will be displayed if the PCM detects a low or high battery voltage and the PCM sends the corresponding CCD bus message to the
VIC. There is no icon for this message and it is displayed for the duration of the problem.
DOOR AJAR MESSAGES
The BCM monitors all door switches and broadcasts a CCD bus status message to the VIC. If a door is opened or closed the VIC responds by
changing the appropriate icon and message. The door icons and messages will not update it the VIC cannot detect the bus message. If the car is
moving at critical speed and any door, liftgate, or hood is open, the appropriate message and icon will be displayed. The VIC will suppress the
time and date and display only the appropriate door ajar message. A beep request will be generated when critical speed is reached for the first
time. All the door icons consist of two segments. A closed segment displayed as blue/green and an open or ajar segment displayed in red.
TRANS OVERTEMP
The message will be displayed if the PCM determines that the transmission is overheating and broadcast the corresponding CCD bus message.
There is no icon for this message and it is displayed for the duration of the problem.
US or METRIC
The VIC monitors a CCD bus message, from the BCM, to synchronize the display format with overhead console US/METRIC button selection.
System Description
WIPER SYSTEM
The wiper system provides the driver with normal wipe (low and high speeds), intermittent wipe, wipe after wash and pulse wipe functions. The
driver selects the wiper function via a resistive multiplexed stalk switch mounted on the steering column. The low and high speeds are directly
controlled via the multifunction switch. The intermittent function is controlled through the intermittent wiper relay and the BCM.
System Features
SYSTEM FEATURES
Speed Sensitive Intermittent Wipe Mode
There are 6 individual delay times with a minimum delay of 1/2 second to a maximum of 18 seconds. When the vehicle speed is under 10 MPH,
the delay time is doubled providing a range of 1 second to 36 seconds.
Pulse Wipe
When the wiper is in the off position and the driver presses the wash button for more than 62 msec, but less than 1/2 second, 1 wipe cycle in low
speed mode will be provided.
Wipe After Wash Mode
When the driver presses the wash button for over 1/2 second and then releases it, the wiper will continue to run for 2 additional wipe cycles.
The wiper system utilizes the BCM to provide intermittent operation. The low and high speed are run directly from the multifunction switch. The
BCM controls the intermittent relay to change the wiper delay as the multifunction switch input changes. The BCM uses vehicle speed input to
double the usual delay times below 10 MPH.
The diagnostic trouble codes associated with the wiper relay are set based on the resistance and current flow in the relay control circuit.
