Universal Joint: Description and Operation
Lubrication

The factory installed universal joints are lubricated for the life of the vehicle and do not need lubrication. All universal joints should be inspected for
leakage and damage each time the vehicle is serviced. If seal leakage or damage exists, the universal joint should be replaced.
The Constant Velocity (CV) joint should also be inspected each time the vehicle is serviced. The CV joint boot is designed to last the life of the
vehicle and to keep the joint lubricated. If grease leakage or boot damage is found, the propeller shaft must be replaced.
