A. Inspect Fuel Filler Inlet Check Valve
IMPORTANT:
To obtain correct test results, the fuel tank must be less than 3/4 full. If the tank is over 3/4 full, drain the fuel tank until it is below the 3/4 level.
1.
Raise the vehicle on an appropriate hoist.
2.
Remove the left rear wheel and tire assembly.
3.
Remove the five (5) plastic rivets that secure the left rear wheelhouse stone shield to the rear fascia and body (Figure 1).
4.
Remove the stone shield.
5.
Clamp off the fuel filler recirculation hose just below the check valve in the recirculation hose (Figure 2).
6.
Remove the fuel filler cap.
7.
Insert the fuel filler probe (Miller Special Tool # 8983) into the fuel filler neck until the knob bottoms on the fuel filler tube.
8.
SLOWLY remove the probe from the fuel filler neck.
9.
Connect the DRB III(R) (Scan Tool) to the instrument panel connector and then turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
