On the front doors, the door handle-to-latch rod is part of the door handle assembly. If the adjustment procedure does not correct the binding
condition, inspect the door handle-to-latch rod for signs of being bent. If the rod is bent, the outside door handle inner mechanism (bellcrank) (Fig.
1), will not return when the push button is released. The door handle assembly will have to be replaced as described in the 1993 Grand Cherokee
Service Manual, Publication No. 81-370-2147, on page 23-17.

On vehicles equipped with the Vehicle Theft Security System, inspect the front door security alarm switch wiring to ensure that it does not
interfere with the door handle-to-latch rod (Fig. 2).
