Owner Notification and Service Scheduling
All involved vehicle owners known to Chrysler are being notified of the service requirement by first class mail. They are requested to schedule
appointments for the service with their dealers. A copy of the owner notification letter is included.
Enclosed with each owner notification is an Owner Notification Form. The involved vehicle and notification are identified on the form for owner or
dealer reference as needed.
Service Procedure
1.
Flip the rear seat cushion up and forward to access the right (passenger) side double buckle assembly.
2.
With a technician inside the vehicle, raise the vehicle on an appropriate hoist.
3.
Heat the seat belt anchor bolt and weldnut from below the vehicle with an oxyacetylene torch.
IMPORTANT:
Do not overheat the anchor bolt area. The carpeting and insulation inside the vehicle may be damaged.
4.
While the bolt is hot, the technician inside the vehicle should work the anchor bolt back and forth to break it loose and then remove the anchor
bolt. Discard the double buckle assembly.
5.
With the weld nut area still warm, install the supplied triple buckle assembly. Tighten the anchor bolt to 27 ft-lbs (37 N.m).
6.
Lower the vehicle.
7.
Return the seat cushion to its original position.
Completion Reporting and Reimbursement
Claims for vehicles which have been serviced must be submitted on the DIAL System. Claims submitted will be used by Chrysler to record notification
service completions and provide dealer payments.
The following labor operation time allowance has been increased in accordance with the service procedure contained in this revised notification. All
claims which were submitted prior to November 27, 1996 will be automatically credited the additional 0.2 hour labor payment.
