Press PAGE BACK to read codes. Determine if any evaporative system one-trip faults are stored and then record the fault code if present.

Turn engine off and then turn the ignition key to the ON position.

Press PAGE BACK.

Press YES to erase any DTCs.

If the vehicle had a one trip fault or fault code for LDP System Fault - LARGE Leak Detected, the fuel tank must be replaced. Continue with
Section D - Replace Fuel Tank.

If the vehicle had no faults or only had a SMALL or MEDIUM Leak Detected, no further action is necessary. Continue with Step 24.

Remove the clamp from the fuel filler recirculation hose.

Install the fuel filler cap.
26.
Install the left rear stone shield using the supplied plastic rivets (Figure 1).
27.
Install the left rear wheel and tire assembly. Tighten the lug nuts to 100 ft-lbs (136 N.m).
28.
Lower the vehicle and return it to the customer.
D. Replace Fuel Tank
NOTE:
Only fuel tanks that have a sticking check valve, as determined by the inspection in Section C, require replacement. Very few vehicles are expected
to require fuel tank replacement.
1.
Remove the clamp from the fuel filler recirculation hose and then lower the vehicle.
2.
Remove the fuel pump relay from the Power Distribution Center (PDC).
3.
Start and run the engine until it runs out of fuel.
4.
Attempt to restart the engine until it will no longer run.
5.
Disconnect the negative battery cable.
NOTE:
To enhance customer satisfaction, remember to reset the clock when you have completed the service procedure.
6.
Install the fuel pump relay into the PDC.
7.
Insert a length of 3/8" O.D. thin wall clear tubing (Tygon tubing) into the fuel filler tube.
8.
Attach the other end of the tubing to an approved gasoline storage container and drain the fuel from the tank.
9.
Raise the vehicle on the hoist.
