SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Customer complaint of damage to the console mounted shift lever "PRNDL" indicator. This damage may be caused by the "PRNDL" indicator coming
in contact with the carpeting under the console.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
This procedure outlines replacement of the shift lever indicator bezel and elimination of the cause of damage to the shift lever "PRNDL" indicator. When
servicing a damaged indicator, the carpet must be modified to avoid a repeat damage complaint.

Referring to the 1989 "JEEP Engine, Chassis & Body" Service Manual # 81-370-9045, page 23-51, for proper procedures, remove damaged shift
lever indicator bezel and dial assembly.

Remove full console assembly.
