SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Some owners of the Grand Wagoneer may complain of excessive fuel gauge movement during normal vehicle operation. This condition may be caused
by a non-dampened fuel sender float arm.
DIAGNOSIS
Verify that the fuel level system is operating properly. Drive the vehicle and observe the fuel gauge. The excessive fuel gauge movement is most
noticeable during vehicle acceleration or deceleration, especially from a stop and with a low fuel tank volume. If this condition occurs, then proceed with
the following repair.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1.
Remove battery negative cable.
2.
Drain fuel tank. Refer to the appropriate model year service manual.
3.
Remove fuel tank. Refer to the appropriate service manual.
4.
Remove the fuel gauge sender unit assembly.
5.
Install the new fuel gauge sender unit and a new sender unit O-ring.
6.
Install fuel tank and refill fuel tank.
7.
Install negative cable to battery.
8.
Start vehicle and check for leaks.
