Power Window Switch: Testing and Inspection
Switch Voltage Test
SWITCH UP TEST
Power Window Switch Test (UP)
1.
Connect one lead of a jumper to the red wire on the switch. Connect the other lead of the jumper wire to the UP terminal of the switch.
2.
Connect one lead of a second jumper to the ground terminal of the switch. Connect the other lead of the second jumper wire to the DOWN
terminal of the switch.
3.
If the motor operates, the test verifies that voltage is available to the motor.
4.
Install the switch back into the multiple connector and actuate it. If the motor fails to operate, replace the switch. Test each switch in the same
manner.

SWITCH DOWN TEST
Power Window Switch Test (Down)
1.
Connect one lead of a jumper to the red wire on the switch. Connect the other lead of the jumper wire to the DOWN terminal of the switch.
2.
Connect one lead of a second jumper to the ground terminal of the switch. Connect the other lead of the second jumper wire to the UP terminal of
the switch.
3.
If the motor operates, the test verifies that voltage is available to the motor.
4.
Install the switch back into the multiple connector and actuate it. If the motor fails to operate, replace the switch. Test each switch in the same
manner.
5.
