Power Window Switch: Testing and Inspection
Control Switch and Motor Test
Power Window Wiring Diagram
1.
Connect a test light between the terminals of the Yellow and Orange wires of the power window switch.
2.
Operate the power window switch for the respective window. If the test light illuminates when the switch is in the UP and DOWN positions, the
Yellow and Orange wires to that specific window and back to the master switch are not defective. It also indicates that the individual switch on
the master control is not defective.
3.
Disconnect the White and Green motor leads at the terminal plate of the passenger's side switch and connect these leads to the White and Green
leads of the wiring harness respectively (bypass the passenger side switch). Operate the master switch UP and DOWN. If the window goes UP
and DOWN, the motor is not defective but the switch is. If the motor does not operate, remove the door trim panel and check the electrical
connections at the power window motor. If the connections are OK, bypass the master switch. If the motor operates, the master switch is
defective. If the motor still does not operate, the motor is defective.
