SUBJECT:
Daytime Running Lights (DRL) Activation

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves installing a relay and updating the Body Control Module (BCM).

MODELS:

2006

(KJ)

Liberty

NOTE:

This bulletin applies to Fleet vehicles sold in the United States and equipped with DRL (sales code LM1).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
DRL is inoperative because the DRL relay is not installed and the BCM requires updating.

DIAGNOSIS:
If the vehicle is equipped with sales code LM1 and DRL is inoperative, perform the Repair Procedure.

NOTE:

Other 2006 model year Liberty vehicles with BCM software part number at or above the NIC level of "AG" may also use this procedure to activate
DRL at the owner's expense.

PARTS REQUIRED:

SPECIAL TOOLS / EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1.

Remove the high beam relay from junction block located behind the left outboard end of the instrument panel.

2.

Install the DRL relay, pin 56042216AB, into the junction block. The DRL relay location is in the upper right corner of the junction block.

NOTE:

Before performing this Repair Procedure, the operating software in the StarSCAN(R); must be programmed with software release level 7.02 or
higher. The software release level is visible in the blue header at the top of the StarSCAN(R) screen.

NOTE:

If this update process is interrupted/aborted, the updated should be restarted.

3.

Connect the CH9404 StarSCAN(R) vehicle cable to the StarSCAN(R) and the vehicle.

4.

Power ON the StarSCAN(R).

5.

Select "ECU View"
