Liberty 4WD V6-3.7L (2009)
. Failure to properly adjust the refrigerant oil level will prevent the A/C system from operating as designed and can cause serious A/C
compressor damage.
NOTE: When replacing multiple A/C system components, refer to the Refrigerant Oil Capacities chart to determine how much oil should be
added to the refrigerant systemSee: Service and Repair/Refrigerant Oil Level .
NOTE: Replacement of the refrigerant line O-ring seals and gaskets is required anytime a refrigerant line is disconnected. Failure to replace
the rubber O-ring seals and metal gaskets could result in a refrigerant system leak.
1. Remove the tape or plugs from the opened refrigerant line fittings and the condenser and expansion valve ports.
2. Lubricate new rubber O-ring seals with clean refrigerant oil and install them onto the refrigerant line fittings. Use only the specified O-rings as
they are made of a special material for the R-134a system. Use only refrigerant oil of the type recommended for the A/C compressor in the vehicle.
3. Connect the A/C liquid line (1) to the condenser tube (2) and install the secondary retaining clipSee: Coupler HVAC/Service and
Repair/Refrigerant Line Coupler - Installation.
4. Install the A/C liquid line (5) into the two retaining clips (6) located on the right inner fender.
5. Connect the A/C liquid line to the A/C suction line (4).
6. Connect the A/C liquid and suction lines to the A/C expansion valve (3) and install the retaining nut (2). Tighten the nut to 23 Nm (17 ft. lbs.).
7. If removed, install the A/C pressure transducer (1) onto A/C liquid line and connect the wire harness connector to the transducer See: Refrigerant
Pressure Sensor / Switch/Service and Repair/A/C Pressure Transducer - Installation.
8. Install the air cleaner housing .See: Engine, Cooling and Exhaust/Engine/Tune-up and Engine Performance Checks/Air Cleaner Housing/Air Filter
Element/Service and Repair/Air Cleaner - Installation
9. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
10. Evacuate the refrigerant system See: Service and Repair/Refrigerant System Evacuate.
11. Adjust the refrigerant oil level See: Service and Repair/Refrigerant Oil Level.
12. Charge the refrigerant system See: Service and Repair/Refrigerant System Charge.
