SUBJECT:
Left Rear Seat Back Requires Higher Closing Effort To Latch

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves the replacement of the left rear seat back latch bumper plate

MODELS:

2002 (KJ) Liberty / Cherokee

NOTE:

THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT PRIOR TO FEBRUARY 01, 2002 (MDH 0201XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The customer may experience a need to increase the effort required to latch the left side rear seat back. The left side is the smaller (40%) seat back
section of the rear folding seat. The effort used to close/latch the smaller rear seat back may increase with colder temperatures.

DIAGNOSIS:

If the customer experiences the above condition perform the Repair Procedure.

PARTS REQUIRED:

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1.

Fold left rear seat back forward (down).

2.

Remove the plastic trim panel, that covers the latch/lock bumper plate, from the seat back. Fold back the seat back material so that it is out of the
way.
