Flip Up Glass Latch - Malfunction

Software Improvement To Flip-Up Glass Unlatch Strategy

OVERVIEW:
This bulletin involves reprogramming the Body Control Module (BCM).

NOTE:

THIS BULLETIN APPLIES TO VEHICLES BUILT BEFORE JULY 12, 2001 (MDH 0712XX).

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:

The customer may complain that the flip-up glass latch did not unlatch when the rear swing gate is first opened. This may cause the customer to have to
unlock (by remote key fob, by using the key in the swing gate lock, or by pulling on the swing gate handle a second time) the swing gate a second time
before the flip-up glass latch unlatches.

This condition may occur when the swing gate latch handle is pulled open immediately after the door locks have been unlocked (quick handle). The
revised BCM software eliminates the delay between opening the swing gate and unlatching the flip-up glass latch.

DIAGNOSIS:

If a vehicle is in for any service, this TSB should be performed.

EQUIPMENT REQUIRED:

NOTE:

THE MDS2 MUST BE OPERATING AT CIS CD 2092.2092 ARRIVES IN DEALERSHIP OCTOBER 01, 2001.

REPAIR PROCEDURE:

1.

Using the DRB III(R) in Standalone mode, refer to the Body Miscellaneous Function Menu. Record the pre-select customer feature option(s) for
each category listed (i.e rolling door locks, horn chirp, etc.).

2.

Reprogram the BCM using the MDS2 and DRB III(R).

3.

Verify that the customer feature option(s) have not changed from their previously recorded values.

Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty.
