TURBO-DIESEL IDLE SPEED
During PDI operations on Turbo-Diesel equipped 1985 Cherokee/Wagoneer 70 Series models, be sure to check and adjust engine idle speed if
necessary. If idle speed is below the specified 800 - 850 rpm, normal engine power pulses may cause some gear shift lever rattle when the transmission is
in neutral.
Check and adjust idle speed using Kent-Moore tachometer set J-33300-200 as follows.
PROCEDURE
1.
Connect tachometer set, J-33300-200, to the engine as outlined on pages 49 and 50 of the INJ. D component service manual.
2.
Start and operate the engine until it reaches normal operating temperature.
IDLE SPEED ADJUSTMENTS
3.
Verify that the throttle lever (J) is seated against the idle speed adjusting screw (H) and that the automatic advance lever (C) is seated against the
stop (D) (see illustration). Also, be sure that both levers move freely.
