Further, in order to ensure your full protection under the emission warranty provisions, it is recommended that you have your vehicle serviced as soon as
possible. Failure to do so could be determined as lack of proper maintenance of your vehicle.
How the state knows that the recall has been performed...
State of California regulations require Chrysler to provide the Department of Motor Vehicles with a record of all vehicles which have not had the recall
service performed. If your vehicle is not on this list, the state will know that the recall has been completed.
Your dealer will provide you with a Vehicle Emission Recall Proof of Correction Form after the recall service is completed. Be sure to save this form
since the California Department of Motor Vehicles may require that you supply it as proof of recall completion.

DEALER SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS
California Emissions Recall # 558 -- Oxygen Sensor and Catalytic Converter

This service requirement applies only to 1990 model year Jeep Cherokee (XJ), Comanche (MJ) and Wrangler (YJ) vehicles equipped with a 2.5L
engine and a California emission control system and built after September 30, 1989.

Failure of the oxygen sensor and catalytic converter on the listed models, may cause a vehicle to be in violation of California Emissions Standards.
To correct this condition, the oxygen sensor and catalytic converter must be replaced with improved design parts.

Be sure to provide a Vehicle Emission Recall Proof of Correction Form (Form No. 81-016-1053) to each owner upon completion of the recall
service, for owner use as proof during renewal of the vehicle Registration.

Non-California Dealers will also receive copies of these recall instructions by CMMS Mail. Some involved vehicles may have been relocated outside
of California, and the instructions will allow dealers to perform this service on such vehicles upon request. Non-California dealers must order the
necessary parts and Proof of Correction Forms as needed.
Parts Packages.

Each involved dealer, to whom vehicles in the recall were invoiced will receive enough Emission Service Packages to service 25% of those vehicles.
