Accelerator Cable: Service and Repair
Throttle Cable
REMOVAL
1.
The clip that connects the throttle cable to the accelerator pedal has tabs on the backside of the clip. Compress the tabs, and pull the clip forward,
providing slack in the cable at the accelerator pedal. Slide the cable out of the opening in the top of the pedal arm.
2.
The throttle cable is retained at the dash by clips built into the cable sheath. From inside the vehicle compress the retainer tabs at the dash panel
and push the cable through the dash panel into the engine compartment.
3.
Using a straight blade screwdriver at the throttle body, disconnect the cable clasp from the throttle lever.
4.
Remove the throttle cable from the throttle bracket, by compressing the tabs, and pushing the cable through the hole in the bracket. Remove the
cable.
INSTALLATION
1.
Slide the clasp end of the throttle cable through the hole in the throttle bracket, until the retainer clips lock into place.
2.
Connect the cable clasp to the throttle lever. Push the other end of the cable through the hole in the dash and feed the cable until the retainer tabs
lock into place.
3.
From inside the vehicle under the dash, slide the throttle cable into the opening in the top of the accelerator pedal arm. Push the cable clip into the
pedal arm until it snaps into place.
