SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Some 1987/88 Jeep vehicles equipped with 4.OL or 4.2L engines may experience a vibration and/or a grounding type noise during a heavy acceleration,
most noticeable in first gear. The vibration/noise may intensify when the vehicle is in the 4WD mode.
This vibration/noise may be the result of a grounding condition of the left engine mounting system.
DIAGNOSIS
Road test vehicle and perform several (4 or 5) moderately heavy accelerations in first gear. If a vibration or grounding noise is observed inspect the
exhaust system and radiator fan shroud as the possible source of the vibration/grounding condition and repair as required. If no grounding is detected
with these items, perform the following Repair Procedure.
