Loosen the EGR tube nuts from the intake manifold and exhaust manifold (Figure 1).

Remove throttle cable, cruise control cable (if equipped), and transmission line pressure cable (if equipped).

Disconnect the vacuum connector on the intake manifold (Figure 2). Lift vacuum connector from the bracket on the intake manifold. Depress lock
tabs and pull vacuum connector apart.
7.
Disconnect all electrical and vacuum connections on the intake manifold.
8.
Release the fuel rail fuel pressure as follows:
a.
Remove and replace fuel tank filler cap to release fuel tank pressure.
b.
Remove cap from pressure test port on fuel rail.
WARNING:
Do not allow fuel to spill on to the engine intake or exhaust manifolds. Place shop towels under pressure port to absorb fuel when the pressure is released
from the fuel rail.
c.
Using a small screwdriver or pin punch push the test port valve in to relieve fuel pressure. Absorb spilled fuel with shop towels.
