Throttle Valve Cable/Linkage: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1.
Working in engine compartment, disconnect cable from throttle linkage, then compress cable mounting ears and remove cable from linkage
bracket.
2.
Raise and support vehicle.
3.
Remove transmission oil pan, disengage cable from throttle valve cam and remove cable bracket bolt.
4.
Remove cable and bracket from case. Remove and discard cable seal.
INSTALLATION
1.
Lubricate and install new seal on cable, then insert cable in transmission case.
2.
Attach cable to throttle cam, then install cable bracket on case and torque attaching bolt to specifications.
3.
Remove old gasket material from oil pan and transmission case and clean pan and screen with solvent, then dry with compressed air.
4.
Install screen with a new gasket, then install pan and torque bolts to specifications.
5.
Install drain plug and fill transmission with fluid to appropriate level, then adjust cable as follows:
a.
Turn ignition switch to Off position and fully retract cable plunger, then press cable button all the way down and cable plunger inward, Fig.
18.
b.
Rotate primary throttle lever to wide open throttle position and hold while allowing cable plunger extend. Release lever when plunger is fully
extended.
