Air/Fuel Mixture: Adjustments
Prior to performing the idle mixture adjustment, the idle mixture screw concealment plugs must be removed. Refer to ``Concealment Plug
Removal'' procedures in the ``Carburetor Section''.

1.
Connect a suitable tachometer to engine.
2.
Connect a suitable dwell meter to diagnostic connector D2 terminals 7 and 14,
Fig. 3, then set dwell meter to 6 cylinder scale.
3.
Disconnect purge vacuum hose at canister and plug.
4.
Position transmission shift lever in Park or Neutral, with parking brake applied and drive wheels blocked.
5.
Start engine and operate at fast idle for atleast 3 minutes to place system in closed-loop mode.
6.
Return engine to idle speed and adjust idle speed as necessary to the proper RPM setting.
7.
Turn idle mixture adjusting screw as necessary to obtain a dwell reading of 30 degrees.
