Clutch Slave Cylinder: Service and Repair

WRANGLER

1. Disconnect clutch master cylinder fluid line at slave cylinder inlet line.
2. Remove transmission and transfer case.
3. Remove bolts attaching slave cylinder fluid line bracket to clutch housing, then remove insulator and bracket.
4. Remove cylinder and bearing retaining nut from mounting pin on transmission front case.
5. Slide cylinder and bearing from transmission input shaft. If cylinder and bearing are to be reinstalled, use care not to damage cylinder lines. If

cylinder lines are damaged, the cylinder and bearing assembly must be replaced.

6. Reverse procedure to install. On replacement cylinder and bearing assemblies, nylon retaining straps are used to hold cylinder piston in place. Do

not remove these straps, as they are designed to breakaway during piston movement after installation. After completing installation, bleed clutch
hydraulic system.
