SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
The spreader bar located between the center and rear bows may not stay in the locked position causing the top to appear loose above the quarter panel
windows.
DIAGNOSIS:
Operate the spreader bar by pushing the bar upward at the hinge. There should be adequate tension on the bar to lock it in the over center position. If
there is insufficient pressure on the bar, perform the repair procedure.

Spreader Bar (Required for 1993 and 1994 vehicles built prior
to 1/10/94 - MDH 01-10-XX)
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves replacing the soft top spreader bar, if necessary, and relocating the mounting bracket.
1.
Unzip the quarter windows, pull down on the center of the spreader bar to release the tension and remove the nuts attaching the spreader bars to
the rear top bow.
2.
Drill out and remove the rivets that attach both spreader bar brackets to the rear bow.
3.
Move the bracket downward using the lower hole in the bow as the new location for the upper bracket rivet. Install rivet P/N J4004962 in the top
location while aligning the bracket with the center of the bow to locate the lower rivet.
4.
Drill a 1/8" hole through the lower bracket hole and install the lower rivet to the bow. Repeat this procedure for the other side.
5.
On 1993 and 1994 vehicles built prior to Jan. 10, 1994 (MDH 01-10-XX), remove both spreader bars and replace them with P/N 55175973. On
vehicles built after that date, install the rear of the spreader bar to the relocated bracket.
6.
Lock the spreaders bar in the up position and install the quarter windows.
