Inspect the park brake pedal support bracket for looseness or separation from the vehicle (Figure 3). If the park brake support bracket is loose,
separated from the vehicle or is missing, an additional park brake support bracket must be installed.

Insert the front park brake cable housing into the new park brake pedal assembly until the cable clip legs snap into position (Figure 1).

Place the park brake pedal assembly into position and install the two park brake pedal assembly mounting stud nuts (Figure 2). Tighten the
mounting stud nuts to 220 in. lbs. (24 N.m).

If the park brake support bracket was not loose separated or missing, continue with Step 16 of this procedure. If the park brake support bracket
was loose, separated or missing, install an additional park brake support bracket using the procedure below:
a.
If equipped, remove the left kick panel
b.
For vehicles equipped with a rear window defroster, remove the relay and connector from the body flange.
c.
Disconnect the wiring harness retainer clip from the body flange and temporarily relocate the wiring harness.
d.
Disconnect the door switch wiring connectors from the door switch.
e.
If the park brake support bracket has completely separated from the vehicle, discard the original bracket (the new park brake support bracket
can be installed with or without the original support bracket installed).
CAUTION:
Do not attempt to weld the original park brake support bracket to the vehicle. Paint damage will result.
