Mark installation position of all components, hoses and wiring prior to removal to aid reassembly.
1.
Disconnect battery ground cable, then drain cooling system.
2.
Remove air inlet hose from throttle body and air cleaner.
3.
Loosen accessory drive belt tension and remove belt from power steering pump.
4.
Remove power steering pump and brackets. Position assembly aside.
5.
Remove fuel tank filler cap to relieve tank pressure, then reinstall cap.
6.
Disconnect fuel line from fuel rail, then the accelerator cable from throttle body and hold-down bracket.
7.
Disconnect all necessary electrical connectors. Pull harnesses away from manifold.
8.
Remove crankcase ventilation hose, then disconnect MAP sensor vacuum hose at manifold.
9.
Disconnect vacuum hose from port on manifold, then remove molded vacuum harness.
10.
On 1988-90 models, disconnect vacuum hose at EGR trandsducer and solenoid. Loosen EGR tube nut at intake manifold. Remove EGR tube from
exhaust manifold.
11.
On all models, disconnect vacuum brake booster hose at manifold.
12.
Remove manifold-to-cylinder head attaching bolts, then the manifold.
13.
Reverse procedure to install, using new gaskets and tightening manifold bolts to specifications in sequence shown in Fig. 3.
