SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Water ingestion through the engine air intake system of the vehicle. This condition will worsen as vehicle speed and/or depth of the water increases.
NOTE:
THIS TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN WILL IMPROVE THE FORDING CAPABILITY OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE OPERATOR
MUST STILL USE CARE WHEN FORDING WATER AS ENGINE DAMAGE DUE TO WATER INGESTION IS NOT A WARRANTABLE
FAILURE.

Venturi, Noise (2.5L only)
REPAIR PROCEDURE:
This bulletin involves removal of the air inlet adapter on 2.5L/4.OL equipped vehicles. On vehicles equipped with a 2.5L engine, a noise venturi must be
installed in the air cleaner assembly.
NOTE:
WHEN A VEHICLE IS IN FOR ANY SERVICE REPAIR PERFORM THIS PROCEDURE.
1.
Remove the top cover from the air cleaner assembly.
2.
Loosen the air cleaner housing clips at the base of the air cleaner assembly. Separate the air cleaner housing from the air inlet adapter.
3.
Remove the other end of the air inlet adapter from the radiator support panel. Discard the air inlet adapter.
4.
On vehicles equipped with a 2.5L engine, install a noise venturi into the air cleaner housing air intake opening. Note that the venturi and air intake
opening of the air cleaner assembly have a matching flat to their mating surface.
