Install the provided sending unit gasket, the sending unit and sending unit flange ring as shown in Figure 6. Be sure to install the gasket and ring in
the direction indicated on the parts.
2.
Install provided sending unit retaining screws and using torque wrench, tighten to 20 in-lbs. in the same sequence as shown previously in Figure 5.
CAUTION:
DO NOT OVER TORQUE OR DAMAGE TO GASKET MAY RESULT.
D. Reinstall Fuel Tank
1.
Place fuel tank on top of the transmission jack and raise high enough to connect fuel lines and gauge wire to sending unit on top of the fuel tank.
2.
Raise tank into position and connect the seven skid plate mounting nuts and tighten to 12 ft. lbs. Remove the transmission jack.
3.
Connect vent hoses and fuel filler hose.
4.
Install fuel filler neck shroud and push clips in to secure (Figure 1).
5.
Lower vehicle from hoist.
6.
Refill fuel tank and inspect all hoses and connections for leaks.
7.
Connect negative battery cable.
E. Complete Proof of Correction Form
1.
Complete a Vehicle Emission Recall Proof of Correction Form and supply it to the vehicle owner.

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act and California Air Resources Board
Regulations.
It has been determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in some 1987 through early-1994 model Jeep Wrangler vehicles
equipped with a plastic fuel tank. The fuel tank sending unit gasket may crack, resulting in the potential for fuel leakage. Also, fuel vapor emissions may
be in violation of California Emissions Standards which were established to protect the public health from the dangers of air pollution. For this reason,
we are asking you to return your vehicle -- identified by the Vehicle Identification Number on the enclosed form - to your dealer for service. This service
will be provided free of charge.
