SAFETY RECALL -- LEFT FRONT SPLASH SHIELD
Dear Chrysler Corporation Vehicle Owner:
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act.
Chrysler Corporation has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in some 1990 through 1992 model year Jeep(R) Wrangler
vehicles. The left front brake hose may wear due to contact with the wheel opening splash shield.
Your vehicle, identified on the enclosed form, is affected. For this reason we ask that you arrange for service to correct the condition without delay. The
service and required parts as described in this letter will be provided free of charge.
The left front brake hose may contact the front wheel opening splash shield due to movement of the shield. Prolonged contact of the hose may cause
sufficient wear to allow fluid leakage, resulting in a loss of front wheel brake system function. If a hose fails, the distance needed to stop the vehicle will
be longer due to loss of braking from the front wheels. Complete loss of braking will not occur because the brakes on the rear wheels will continue to
operate. However, the increased stopping distance could result in an accident.
The driver will be warned that a partial loss of braking has occurred by the lighting of the Brake Warning Light on the instrument panel when the brake
pedal is applied.
To correct the condition your dealer will install two additional fasteners to hold the left wheel opening splash shield. In addition, the brake hose will be
inspected and replaced if necessary. Attaching the shield will take about one-half hour to complete. Replacing a brake hose, if required, will take an
additional one-half hour. However, additional time may be required depending on how dealer appointments are scheduled and processed. To obtain this

Take the enclosed Owner Recall Notification Form with you at the time of your appointment and give it to your dealer. The form identifies the
vehicle and the service that is required.
If you have any problem obtaining the needed repair, please contact the Chrysler Zone Service Office in your area. (It is listed under "Service
Assistance" in your Owner's Manual.) A Zone representative will arrange for prompt attention to your vehicle.
