Fuel Gauge Inoperative Or Inaccurate
MODELS:

SYMPTOM/CONDITION:
Vehicles may exhibit an inoperative or inaccurate fuel gauge (a gauge indicating fuel in the tank when the tank is empty). This condition may be caused
by the fuel tank bowing upward, interfering with, or damaging the sending unit.
DIAGNOSIS:
With the gas cap removed, observe the fuel tank from the side of the vehicle to determine if the fuel tank is bowed upward. The fuel tank skid plate can
be used as a reference when observing the fuel tank. If the fuel tank is not bowed upward, refer to the appropriate service manual (section 8E) for fuel
sender diagnostics. If the fuel tank is bowed, the following procedure should be performed.
