3. Clean the top of the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU) where the brake tubes attach to prevent dirt from entering the brake tube port during tube
replacement (Figure 12).
4. Disconnect the brake right front brake tube from the HCU aluminum block (Figure 12).
5. Unclip and set aside the canister purge solenoid (Figure 12).
6. Unclip the right front brake tube from the plastic bundle clip.
7. Disconnect the brake tube from the right front wheel flex hose.
8. Remove and discard the original brake tube from the vehicle.
9. Place the new brake tube into position on the vehicle.
10. Connect the right brake tube flare nut to the right front wheel flex hose. Only hand-tighten the flare nut at this time.
11. Connect the other right brake tube flare nut to the HCU aluminum block. Tighten the flare nut to 170 in. lbs. (19 N.m) (Figure 12).
12. Tighten the right brake tube flare nut at the right front wheel flex hose to 170 in. lbs. (19 N.m).
13. Snap the right front brake tube into the plastic bundle clip.
14. Snap the canister purge solenoid into position.
15. If the left rear wheel brake tube requires replacement, continue with Section E - Replace Left Rear Wheel Brake Tube. If the left rear wheel brake
tube does not require replacement, continue with Section F - Replace Wheel Opening Liner Retainers.
E. Replace the Left Rear Wheel Brake Tube (Right Hand Drive)
1. If not previously performed, disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable.
2. If not previously performed, using a brake pedal holding tool, depress the brake pedal past its first inch of travel and hold it in this position.
NOTE:
Holding the pedal in this position will isolate the master cylinder from the hydraulic brake system and will not allow brake fluid to drain out of
the brake fluid reservoir while brake tubes are disconnected.
