Safety Recall K13
Front Inner Fender Liners
Models
2007-2010
(JK)
Jeep Wrangler
NOTE:
This recall applies only to the above Left Hand Drive (LHD) vehicles built through August 09, 2009 (MDH 080923) and Right Hand Drive (RHD)
built through April 22, 2010 (MDH 042223).
IMPORTANT:
Some of the involved vehicles may be in dealer used vehicle inventory. Dealers should complete this recall service on these vehicles before retail
delivery. Dealers should also perform this recall on vehicles in for service. Involved vehicles can be determined by using the VIP inquiry process.
Subject
The front inner fender liners on about 283,900 of the above vehicles may detach or sag allowing the fender liner to contact one or more brake tubes.
Continuous fender liner contact with the brake tube(s) could result in a hydraulic leak and reduced braking performance. The loss of braking
performance could cause a crash without warning.
Repair
The front inner fender liners must be trimmed to provide adequate clearance to the brake tubes and certain fender liner fasteners must be replaced. Also,
the brake tubes in the affected areas must be inspected for damage and replaced if necessary.
Alternate Transportation
Dealers should attempt to minimize customer inconvenience by placing the owner in a loaner vehicle if inspection determines that brake tube
replacement is required and the vehicle must be held overnight.
