AMANTI & OPTIMA POWER STEERING FLUID UPDATE
This bulletin provides information relating to the new Amanti and Optima Power Steering Fluid. Starting 1/17/05 on 2005MY Amanti and Optima
vehicles the Power Steering Fluid is designated as PSF4, and is easily recognized by its green color (see photo 1).
The previous fluid which is clear, was designated PSF3. The all-new PSF4 is currently only available through Kia Chemical Program P/N 03100 00130
(1 quart bottle).
The main difference between PSF4 and PSF3 is viscosity. Power Steering Fluid PSF4 will perform better in lower temperatures/colder climates.
It is recommended that PSF3 be completely drained from the power steering system prior to refilling the power steering with PSF4. These two power
steering fluids are not compatible and should not be intermixed.
Note: Small amounts of residual test fluid may have been left in system components during production which may have discolored the fluid in vehicles
built after January 2005 (see photo 2). This could result in the green fluid appearing to be reddish. This discoloration is not harmful to the system and no
corrective action is required. Regardless of this slight discoloration in appearance, power steering systems in all Amanti and Optima vehicles built after
1/17/05 were filled with PSF4 which should be used for all fluid additions and/or replacements.
