Optima P0128 Logic
This bulletin provides information relating to a change in 2001 MY Optima 4-cylinder DTC P0128 (thermostat malfunction) logic. Under certain cold
weather operating conditions, 2001MY 4-cylinder Optima may seta DTC P0128, even though no driveability concerns exist, and the thermostat is
operating properly. To reduce incidence of false MIL, the ECM P0128 temperature threshold logic was changed from 82° C (180° F) to 75° (167° F)
from 2002MY.
For 2001 MY Optima 4-cylinder vehicles that experience false DTC P0128 in cold weather operating conditions, ECM reprogramming software has
been made available for the Hi-Scan Pro to upgrade the P0128 logic in complaint vehicles to the 2002MY specification.
REPROGRAMMING PROCEDURE:
1.
Connect the reprogramming adapter to the Hi-Scan Pro as shown.
