SERVICE TIP:
The Optima TCM has an adaptive logic that, under some conditions, can get baseline parameters shifted out of normal operating range. If this occurs,
one or more of the following symptoms may occur:

Harsh, mushy or delayed shifts
-
Delayed engagement
-
Shift flare
If you have a vehicle exhibiting any of these symptoms, use the following procedures to reset the TCM to baseline parameters:
1. Disconnect negative battery cable for one minute.
2. Drive vehicle from stop, allowing transmission to shift through all gears at light throttle. Repeat procedure ten times (cycles).
3. Repeat step 2 at mid-throttle opening.
4. Repeat step 2 at high-throttle opening.
Test drive to ensure vehicle shifts normally.
