- Description
In the event that you replace an undeployed airbag or pre-tensioner, you may use such parts during training of dealer personnel regarding the functioning
of those items. KMA recommends dealers to periodically demonstrate airbag and seat belt pre-tensioner deployment as part of a dealer training program
on how the airbag system operates and the consequences of deployment.
The airbags should be deployed for educational or any other valid purposes as described below.
Additional airbag related information can be found in the following TSBs:

and also in the applicable Kia Service Manuals.
Air bag related MSDS sheets can be found on the Service Or Parts page of Kdealer.net, by selecting "Parts Tech" from the menu on the left side of the

HANDLING AND DISPOSAL OF DAMAGED OR PARTIALLY DEPLOYED AIRBAGS
Damaged or partially deployed airbags should be treated as an undeployed airbag and deployed pursuant to the instructions in this bulletin.
How to determine if airbags are partially deployed:
Remove airbag module from vehicle. Follow any applicable instructions in Service Manual. Inspect module to determine if there is a single (2-pin) or
dual (4-pin) connector receptacle or two connectors. Multiple connectors or multi-pin receptacles typically indicate multiple igniters which are found in
more recent multi-stage airbag systems.
