Rio Cinco L4-1.6L DOHC 16V (2003)
Heater Core: Technical Service Bulletins
A/C - System Blows Cold Air Only
SOURCE: KIA Technician Times Volume 6 Issue 4, 2003
TITLE: System Blows Cold Air Only
APPLIES TO: Rio
SERVICE TIP:
KMA has received some reports on 03 Rio's where the vehicle exhibited a "no warm air coming from the HVAC vents" condition. Diagnosis showed
that the passage in the cylinder head that supplies the coolant to the heater core had not been properly machined. As a result, no coolant can flow
through the heater core.
If you encounter a concern as described above, and HVAC controls and blend doors have been checked for proper operation, make sure there is
proper coolant flow through the heater core.
If blockage is confirmed, a replacement cylinder head will be required. Check the production date of the vehicle before ordering a replacement, and
select the appropriate P/N as listed in the current Parts catalog.
