CONDITION
Some automatic transaxle (A/T) equipped vehicles may experience slipping or neutral for a brief period followed by a harsh shock into first gear after
coming to quick stop. There may also be a delayed engagement of two to three seconds after shifting into reverse when cold.
CAUSE
This condition is frequently caused by the A/T fluid level being too low and not the result of internal transaxle failure.
CORRECTIVE ACTION
NOTICE
The vehicle must be driven several miles to make sure that the A/T fluid is at operating temperature before accurate A/T fluid level checking is
possible.
In some vehicles, an additional pint of A/T fluid must be added past the hot full mark on the transaxle fluid level dipstick (approximately 1/4-inch
above the mark).
