Idle Speed/Throttle Actuator - Electronic: Testing and Inspection
Bypass Air Control (BAC) Valve Inspection
* NOTICE: The Bypass Air Control valve consists of the Air Valve and Idle Air Control valve.
Air Valve Inspection
1. Circulate water in the BAC valve coolant passage to cool the air valve.
2. Circulate hot water in the BAC valve coolant passage and verify that the air valve operates.
3. If not, replace the BAC valve.
Tightening torque: 24-36 in-lb (2.9-4.0 N.m)
Idle Air Control Valve Inspection
1. Verify that the ignition switch is OFF.
2. Disconnect the idle air control valve connector.
3. Measure the resistance of the idle air control valve by using an ohmmeter.
Specification: 10.7 - 12.3ohms 68°F (20°C)
4. If not as specified, replace the BAC valve.
