SERVICE TIP:
When installing a replacement automatic or manual transaxle assembly into a front-wheel drive vehicle, it is very important to leave the plastic
axle-seal plugs in place until it is time to reinsert the axle drive shafts. The axle-seal plugs prevent the differential sidegears from becoming dislodged
from their proper positions. If the differential side-gears become dislodged, it will NOT be possible to reinsert the axle drive shafts. If the differential
side-gears cannot be returned to their proper positions, it will be necessary to install another replacement transmission assembly, as correction of this
condition requires disassembly of the transmission housing.
After installation of the replacement transmission assembly, be sure to install the plastic axle-seal plugs into the transmission core unit. To prevent
leakage, always install all plastic or rubber plugs into their proper location on the core unit.
Note: On automatic transmissions it is also important to install the torque converter retaining bracket on the transmission core unit, to prevent
damage during shipment. Make certain that the retaining bracket mounting bolts are properly tightened. Transmission core units received by
the Kia Remanufacturing Center in damaged or incomplete condition (components or documents) may result in denial of all or part of core
credit.
