SUBJECT:
2011MY SORENTO (XM) M/T HECU SOFTWARE UPGRADE
This bulletin provides information related to a Electronic Stability Control (ESC) software upgrade available for some 2011 MY Sorento (XM) vehicles
with manual transmission built from October 23, 2009 to March 30, 2010. This software upgrade will correct a concern which may cause the HAC
(Hill-start Assist Control) to not operate when the manual transmission lever is placed into Reverse.
Kia recommends that vehicles with this concern receive this software upgrade to allow the ABS HECU to properly apply the HAC function when the
vehicle is in Reverse.
NOTICE
To verify the vehicle is affected, be sure to check the version of the vehicle's control unit ROM ID with reference to the ROM ID Information Table
shown in this bulletin before attempting to upgrade the control unit software.
To correct this condition, the ECM should be reprogrammed using the GDS download as described in this bulletin.
