Sportage 2WD L4-2.0L (1997)
4. Apply air pressure to the fluid passage in the O/D case to remove the brake piston.
5. Remove the brake piston inner ring and the brake piston outer ring.
6. Unsnap the seal rings.
7. Remove the two seal rings, bearing and bearing race from the rear of the O/D case sub-assembly.
NOTICE: Do not open the seal rings more than necessary to remove them.
INSPECTION
1. Check all sliding, contact, and engaging surfaces for excessive wear or damage. Replace with new parts as necessary.
2. Measure free length of piston return spring.
Standard free length: 0.594 inch (15.10 mm)
3. Measure the free length of each of the eighteen piston return springs.
Standard free length: 0.594 inch (15.10 mm)
NOTICE: If any of the O/D brake return springs are not within specification, replace all of the springs.
