Oil Pan: Service and Repair
NOTE: On models equipped with airbag system, refer to Technician Safety Information for system disarming and arming procedures.
1. Disconnect battery ground cable.
2. Loosen top two engine manifold mount bolts.
3. Raise and support vehicle.
4. Remove oil drain plug and drain engine oil into suitable container.
5. Install drain plug.
6. Remove front left bushing for axle housing mount.
7. Carefully lower front axle housing.
8. Remove four gusset plate mounting bolts from each side of engine and remove gusset plates.
9. Remove transmission and engine undercovers.
10. Remove 19 oil pan mounting bolts.
11. Pry oil pan from oil baffle. Do not bend oil pan or damage oil pickup tube.
12. Remove oil pan and oil strainer, Fig. 25.
13. Remove oil baffle.
14. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Apply continuous bead of suitable silicon sealant to oil baffle and lip of oil pan along bolt holes, Figs. 26 and 27.
b. Tighten oil pan bolts to specifications.
