Sportage Recreational Towing Guidelines
The information provided in this bulletin relates to Sportage recreational towing guidelines and is provided for clarification purposes and to assist with
inquiries from consumers about towing of the following Sportage models:

Four Wheel Drive (4WD) Manual Transmission (M/T)
^
Four Wheel Drive (4WD) Manual Transmission equipped with "Manual Locking Hubs"
^
Two Wheel Drive (2WD) Manual Transmission
^
Four Wheel Drive (4WD) Automatic Transmission
"Recreational" towing of Sportage refers to circumstances when Sportage is towed behind a motorhome, truck or other recreational vehicle with all four
(4) tires in contact with the road surface.
Notice:
It is important to confirm that the "recreational" tow vehicle has the capacity to tow Sportage.

General Precautions:

Follow all State and local laws/regulations applicable to vehicle towing.
^
Never tow Sportage from the rear (backwards) with all four tires in contact with the road surface.
^
Do not use a towing dolly.
Recommended Towing Procedure: Rear Driveshaft Removed
Have the rear driveshaft removed by an authorized Kia dealer or at a competent repair shop.
This is the "recommended" option and allows the vehicle to be towed an unlimited distance.
Towing Parameters for Rear Driveshaft Removed:

Follow "General Precautions" information provided above.

Place the transmission Shift Lever in the "N" position.
^
Place the Transfer Case Shift Lever in the "2H" position.
^
Release the Parking Brake.
^
Place the Ignition Switch in the "ACC" position (steering wheel unlocked).
