Brake Master Cylinder: Service and Repair

1. Remove reservoir mounting bolt and reservoir, Fig. 3.
2. Remove cap and strainer from reservoir.
3. Remove bushings under reservoir.
4. Push master cylinder piston in using a screwdriver and remove stopper bolt.
5. Push master cylinder piston in and remove snap ring using snap ring pliers.
6. Remove first piston assembly by hand.
7. Remove second piston assembly by tapping cylinder flange lightly with cloth-covered wood block.
8. Reverse procedure to install. Apply brake fluid to rubber contact surfaces and tighten bolts to specifications.
